The Righteous Boycott

With hundreds of years of experience, you would have thought that the vatican would have learned that the best way to ensure additional publicity is to forbid something. Seriously, good luck trying to stop people from going to see The Davinci Code because of a vatican-led ‘boycott’ of the most popular book in the world.

Simply expressing distaste and disapproval would have been a better bet. At least there would presumably be guilt and the liklihood that Catholics would go to the priests to discuss their religion. A boycott smacks of some sort of organized effort which will be laughably small in the face of the popularity of this movie. If the vatican has priests preaching the boycott from the pulpit, the moviemakers will be laughing all the way to the bank.
